6. ORIENTAL PLUM BLOSSUMS

Slide 6. As in the mammary gland, the most significant differentiation of this ornamental plum is at the growing tips of branches and twigs. These end buds respond to hormones and various chemicals which modulate growth. It follows that both normal and abnormal growth are most likely to be found at distal terminations in such systems.
