Slide 33. Subgross photograph of a focus of advanced DCIS which has spread into the adjacent duct system. The site of origin is presumed to be a nearby TDLU. Note cyst which is about 7 mm in diameter. The ducts are about 3 mm in diameter.
Note central dense cores of calcified necrotic cells surrounded by peripheral rims of paler, viable neoplastic cells. Hematoxylin stain.
