13. DIAGRAM OF TDLU

LEGEND

Slide 13. This diagram explains the nomenclature used to describe the TDLU. The intralobular connective tissue is loosely fibroalveolar. The intralobular terminal duct is the central axial space of the lobule. The extralobular terminal duct lies outside the lobule. The smallest and earliest hyperplasias with probable preneoplastic potential may arise at or near the junction of intralobular and extralobular terminal ducts. As mentioned before, "ductule" and "acinus" are synonyms.
