This is a collection of slides and legends that constitute a brief summary of the major aspects of transgenic mammary gland pathology. Click on the underlined text to view the images and text for each subject matter. This collection was used to deliver a presentation at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine Cancer Center, Denver Colorado.

5. The classification of transgenic tumors.

The mammary tumors in transgenic mice are unique. Each transgene is associated with a different identifiable type of tumor.

6. Neoplastic progression in PyV-MT transgenic tumors.

Almost 80% of all mouse mammary tumors metastasize. Some transgenic lines have a very high rate of metastasis. The animals with the Polyoma Virus Middle T transgene form tumors and have pulmonary metastases within 6 weeks of birth.

7. Angiogenesis in transgenic mammary tumors.

Transplants of PyV-MT tumors result in very angiogenic tumors. The complexity of the microcirculation correlates to the ability to metastasize.
